It’s always weird coming back to work after a long vacation. It’s like the wheels still spin but it takes long to get anywhere. I had two weeks off over the holidays and was able to put work (work, not photography) mostly out of mind. Tuesday was my first day back. One assignment was to photograph the Salt Lake County Council’s caucus meeting at Millcreek Cafe. The group had decided to make its meetings public. To make sure I was an objective observer, I ordered a red meat Republican lunch:

Photographing people eating can be a little challenging. I managed to get a few shots off where people weren’t putting food in their mouths. We all know how unattractive that can be.

But then there are always a few shots that aren’t flattering or even accurate. They are better left unseen, like this one:
